Soccer is said to be a sport with the greatest number of fans in the world. Apart from its enjoyment benefits, here are other life lessons from it.
When great teams lose it:
In soccer, even the great teams are bitten by small teams. In many cases, it doesn't matter whether a team has great players, many fans or has wide media coverage, what matters is the action in the pitch to score a win. Next time you go watch a soccer match you will realize how a winning team put much efforts in getting a score. Therefore action is the key in life and business
When coaches are fired:
It is common to hear soccer coaches are fired or resign after loss of match. Why? It is because plan and strategy matters. Coaches are supposed to give players/teams plans and strategy, they are the ones to direct the players on how to respond to challenges in the game. If a team loses, and it is clear that the team didn't have good plan or didn't apply appropriate strategy during the game, coaches are normally forced to resign. This means that plans and strategy in life and business are very important.
'Parking bus' is fine sometimes:
You may not like the style where a team just plays to defend its goal. But sometimes this strategy suits the team as what matters is a result of the match that can be obtained from applying that strategy. We saw great team like Chelsea FC applying this strategy and successfully got what it needed the most, a ticket to final, after a win over FC Barcelona.
Therefore soccer tells us that we shouldn't just do things for what they are but we have to look further, into the results of our actions. The results should be rewarding, should make us and those who matters the most to us- safe and happy. Knowing our targets and strive to reach them matters the most.
22 right minded people chasing a ball for 90 minutes !:
Have you ever tried to take a ball and start dribbling it out in public places in town like supermarket ? How will people think of you ? - most people will think that you are starting to go crazy.
But when we watch the men or women in the field of soccer, we don't think about it that way, because this is something well organized, it is something that has a purpose in the end. Soccer teaches us to find sound purpose of what we do so that we make our actions understood well and fruitful. Remember this when you are on social networks like Facebook and twitter - what is the use of your status or comments ? do they really save to make any meaningful message to those who are going to read?
