The title of this post should have been: “Passion and
freedom of mind can influence your success” which is justified by the story of
Kevin Richardson, a South African zoologist worldwide known as The Lion whisperer.
According to his website www.lionwhisperer.co.za Kevin’s interest in all types of creatures large and small developed as early as he was just 3 years old. As a young boy he cared for so many animals.
When he went to university, Kevin Richardson saw that the
University education was not giving him ‘enough’ knowledge he wanted for his
passion. Wikipedia says that Richardson quit after two years because of repetitive
lessons on marine biology.
Richardson understood early what his passion was, and wanted to follow his passion. He turned his passion into money by first working for other people at the age of 23 at the Lion Park in Johannesburg. Currently, Richardson with his team do projects such as Documentaries, Films, and Conservation. Richardson with Tony Park have written a book called PART OF THE PRIDE: My Life Among the Big Cats of Africa. He also sells DVDs of his works with animals.
Sometimes some people become slave of the academic system
they were introduced to. They believe only what is in the books, or what people
‘with authorities’ in academic field say.
But this was not the case with Kevin Richardson, he is a self-taught zoologist – of course he must have studied what was provided by the academic system, but he was selective in what is right for him and what not right for him. Wikipedia says Richardson disregarded many safety rules concerning lions, and has dispelled many myths about their training.
