Facebook Job Search

This week's major story about Facebook is the rumour that the number one social network is going to go head to head competition with the leading professional social network - Linkedin by launching a job posting board service.

According to reports published by Softwareadvice , Nbc, Mashable, Techcrunch, and Forbes the new service from Facebook is expected to start later this year.

The new job board will be an aggregation of current job related applications Brach out, Job vite and Work 4Lab. Facebook users will be able to view and search jobs directly on the facebook accounts, just like they do in specialized job search sites.

However, Facebook representatives would not comment on the news, claiming that the company doesn't comment on rumours. Therefore complete details of this new feature/service are not yet out.

What does this mean to job seekers ?
Though Facebook is a social network, where people feel free to communicate any way they like, the job posting board will rise more awareness on how well job seekers should communicate on the site because they may be judged by the behavior they portray on Facebook through their status, comments and type of connections they have ( in short job seeker's activities on social networks may provide vital information by job recruiters)

Lesson to business managers ?
With 900 million users, Facebook is said to provide a threat to the leading professional social network Linkedin if it really decides to launch and succeed in its job search board. Again we see the importance of analyzing competitors and to stay alerted.
As business managers or owners remember that what matters is how stable your business is, how prepared it is for challenges or competition and how sustainable it is - meaning that how far your business can go in the long run.
