It is true that life is short, but don’t let yourself misunderstand this statement.
The saying life is so short doesn’t have the same meaning as ‘live your life
recklessly’. The saying also doesn’t mean that you should only consider ‘killing
your resources, because you are going to die soon’. Open your mind by
considering the following facts:
Life is short ≠
You should make it short
You
practically don’t know how many years you will be in this world, but this doesn’t
mean you should do activities that will shorten your life. Sometimes, some
people do things that can be interrupted that they are making their lives
short.
We know life is short but it is not your responsibility to make your
life short by not following healthy life guidelines – as some would involve
themselves into unnecessary luxury, risk sex practices, living without planning
well financially and strategically. All these do not make your life better;
rather, you are truly making life shorter than it should be.
Don’t get
me wrong, I don’t discourage enjoying life,
I just need to make a point clear that enjoying life has no real relationship with
the fact that it is short. We start to
enjoy life when we are infants, with all the love we get from parents, friends
etc.
Life is
short = You should make the most out of it
What the
statement life is short means is that we should make the most out of it. We
should find our true identity, we should live it wholly – not destroying it. We
should cherish that we are human, we should contribute to those who need the
most.
I hope
you don’t think that you are in this world just to enjoy; I hope you don’t
think you are in this world to have a miserable life. I hope you don’t think
you are in this world to be a burden to others. I hope you don’t think you are
in this world to be lazy.
If you
think opposite of what I think about you, please think again because I think
you are a great person. I think you are
not just here to suffer, I think you are not here in the world to make others
suffer. Why would you think badly of yourself like that?
We all
have the power within ourselves, the power to choose who we want to be. Yes,
there are difficult circumstances but if we decide, if we follow instructions,
we can be great people, we can keep on being great people.
Challenges and problems are there for us to overcome, not to
take us down. Take a good example, if today you go back to your home and find
that your doors are not opening so that you can get inside and rest, what are
you going to do? Are you going to leave the house and never come back because
the doors are not opening? I hope not, you will find ways to open it. You will
not care how long it takes to open the doors, as long as you succeed to open
them. This is how challenges and problems in life are, no matter how long they
take us to overcome; we must stand up and overcome them.
We get good examples in real life, when Steve Jobs –founder of
Apple, was diagnosed of cancer, he didn’t give up. He knew he would die soon,
but he didn’t let this stop him from being a great person. He knew life was
short – probably shorter than you think, but he didn’t live like he was dying
tomorrow AS Steve jobs said:
No one wants to die. Even people who want to go to heaven don't want to die to get there. And yet death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it. And that is as it should be, because Death is very likely the single best invention of Life. It is Life's change agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new. Right now the new is you, but someday not too long from now, you will gradually become the old and be cleared away. Sorry to be so dramatic, but it is quite true.
Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma -- which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.
We also have example of 50 Cent, who after being short times
he came up to realize that life though it is short it is very valuable. He even
wrote the book 50th Law explaining 10 concepts of Fearlessness.
